Since 2014 Tianhua has supplied Fresenius Kabi — a global leader in lifesaving medicines and technologies — with MedShield® pharmaceutical oxygen absorbers and oxygen indicators protecting fat emulsions and intra/post-operative nutritional fluids, among the most commonly used products in operating rooms and hospital wards worldwide.

Challenge & Protection Requirements

Fat emulsions and amino acid-based nutritional fluids are among the most oxygen-sensitive pharmaceutical products: dissolved oxygen drives lipid peroxidation, protein oxidation, and degradation of active ingredients. The client's "Three Controls" specification demanded simultaneous oxygen, moisture, and compound-stability control — plus a unidirectional, irreversible oxygen indicator that changes color permanently once oxygen drops below the threshold, providing an unambiguous, tamper-evident safety signal.

Solution

The MedShield® absorber — GMP clean room production, FDA DMF Level 3 — reaches ≤ 0.05% O2 within 96 hours and holds below 0.01% long-term. The paired liquid oxygen indicator changes permanently from green to yellow at the anaerobic threshold and withstands 121 °C heat sterilization.
